 The Memorial honors the 2,800 members of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, U.S. volunteers in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) who joined forces with citizens of Spain and other international volunteer units in their fight against fascism.
 The Lincoln Brigade Monument is located across San Francisco’s Embarcadero from the iconic Ferry Building.
 Eleven Lincoln Brigade volunteers attended to memorial dedication in 2008.
